Design and Size of Airocide APS-200
Airocide is currently the only NASA-lineage air purifier brand. The company has only manufactured high-end products since 1998, using PCO technology to fight the ultra-fine contaminants, which is smaller than the HEPA filter standard. The direction of airflow of this Airocide APS-200 PM 2.5 is also unique in the world of air purifiers.
This pushes all top and bottom fans into the polluted air and then releases the fresh air from inside. By now, thanks to the advanced airflow system concept, the unit can be placed both vertically and horizontally. There are different attachments for this air purifier, such as the wall mount or stand (out of stock), so the AirocideAPS-200 PM 2.5 can easily blend into any decor.
From the back, you can find the power button and the control panel from the air purifier inside. The Airocide APS-200 PM 2.5 weighs just 9 lbs and has a size of 18.7 x 6.9 x 6 inches, but it is intended to stay in one spot, so you need to move it everywhere in your house.
Filters of Airocide APS-200
Airocide APS-200 PM 2.5 brings the users a new, upgraded air filtration system, and with good reason: it is one of the world's most powerful PCO systems.
The APS-200 PM 2.5 has a 2-stage filtration system that captures particulates, mold, dander, dust, and harmful VOCs that are killed by the PCO chamber.
-
Activated Carbon Filter - Removes odors and gaseous pollutants like nitrogen dioxide. It can help PCO eliminate VOCs.
-
HEPA filter – It uses a simple MERV-12 filter to remove any PM 2.5 pollutants from the air.
-
PCO chamber – Airocide APS-200 PM 2.5 advanced PCO technology is capable of eliminating almost 100 percent of harmful pathogens and other allergens such as molds, viruses, bacteria, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and lasts for 15 months.
Although PCO technology is the most efficient method for handling chemicals, VOCs, and ultra-fine biological particles, Airocide APS-200 PM 2.5 improves the adsorption of more gaseous pollutants with an Activated Carbon filter.
The company is even using new carbon filter technology, named Microarray. That may not mean much to most people, but it essentially creates significantly more surface area, as well as making the carbon filter longer lasting than an advanced carbon filter for honeycombs.
In addition, it comes with a MERV-12 HEPA filter, an upgraded version of the HEPA filter. While the PCO system is sufficient to filter out any ultra-fine biological pollutants and chemicals, it can not trap large dust (PM 2.5 things) as a mechanical filter itself. Thanks to the Airocide APS-200 PM 2.5 power you will save yourself from dust and pet hair.
PCO technology is the backbone of one NASA-developed Airocide air purifier to convert harmful molds, microorganisms, dangerous pathogens, destructive VOCs, and biological gasses into harmless water vapor. It uses the UV light (254-nm light) to make chemical processes with the coating catalyst, in turn, creates hydroxyl radicals (OH) and steals atoms from neighboring molecules (airborne pollutants), thereby destroying the pollutants in the process.
This process is known as Photo Catalytic Oxidation (PCO). The consequence is that we only get healthy by-products, such as normal carbon dioxide (CO2) and water molecules (H2O).
We highly recommend that you change the chamber reaction kit once a year. It contains other mechanical filters inside, so the chamber may need to be adjusted earlier, depending on the environment you live in.
Room Coverage of Airocide APS-200
It's hard to really calculate an air purifier's room coverage like the AirocideAPS-200 PM 2.5 because it's programmed to run 24/7. However, due to its innovative air filtration system, it is still advisable to use it for a large space, up to 500 square feet. If you want to use the Airocide APS-200 PM 2.5 for fewer hours a day, we suggest running it in an area of less than 200 square feet.
Airocide APS-200 PM 2.5 has 1X ACH (Air Shifts every Hour). It can only turn air once an hour. The Airocide APS-200 PM 2.5 CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) is calculated to a mere 25 cfm. This is why for constant performance, the air purifier must run 24/7.
